BBC Sounds have just dropped its latest episode of the documentary ‘Music and Motorbikes’ with special guest, DJ Carl Cox. The presenter Rick Faragher interviewed Cox on his musical journey and his love and experience with racing bikes.

Cox expressed his thrill for speed, racing, and chases. He told BBC that he was caught by the cops several times for over-speeding tickets when he was young.

"I kind of lost my license before I got a license… I was known to the cops", Cox laughed.

Bikes have always been very close to him and have provided him chances to tour places to showcase his music and hang out with friends as a bonus.

"I liked the idea of going places, touring, having that camaraderie with my friends and getting there and getting back in one piece," Cox said.

In 2013, Cox started his motorsport team, Carl Cox Motorsport alongside racer Michael Dunlop to pursue his love for racing and motorbikes. To his amazement and awe, his team has amassed great success and has gained its first title at Isle of Man TT in June 2014- just within a year of starting out.

Cox recalled arriving at the race straight from a tour in Ibiza, having just enough time to wish Dunlop good luck for the big race.

"It can't be true that this has happened to us already," he said. "I almost became a lucky mascot for him in that sense because that year he was phenomenal on everything.”

Cox also spoke about his relationship with late The Prodigy frontman Keith Flint, who also managed a racing team of his own. The two frequently exchanged ideas over bikes and racing, and Cox told BBC that The Prodigy's hit "Firestarter" is a music track that has deep roots in racing.
